Same Ole Thursday

Well today is my first "official" day as a stay at home mom.

Although, it doesn't feel any different than usual because I've has Thursdays off since Eli was born.

And in all actuality most of the time I felt like a stay at home mom who just happened to go into the office 20 hours a week.

I imagine it will feel weird Sunday night when I realize I dont have to wake up and go into the office in the morning, but other than that everything feels pretty normal.

I've had a feeling of excitement in me, knowing that I will now be home with Eli full time. I was hoping Eli felt the same way but upon picking him up from the babysitter's house yesterday he screamed and cried for his DADA like I was some crazed lady trying to abduct him.

Nope, just the mom who GAVE UP EVERYTHING FOR YOU.

Just kidding, I didn't give up everything, just almost everything.

Eli is pretty good at entertaining himself and likes to play alone for the most part, so in between playing with him here and there I've gotten a fair amount of cleaning done and even sent out my Scentsy team newsletter.

I also started meal planning for next week because yesterday Luke said:

"I say this in the most supportive, non-nagging husband way I know possible, but are you going to start cooking again anytime soon?"

Point taken.

I'm still waiting to do that "sit on the couch while eating bon bons and watching TV" thing that people say stay at home moms do.......

Haha! When I dream of being a stay-at-home mom who sits on the couch and eats bon bons all day while watching TV, I have to remind myself that there actually would be plenty of housework to do and that I couldn't live the life of luxury.

Congratulations on being able to make the move to stay-at-home mom-hood. You have one of the best jobs in the world!

what stay at home mom says they sit on the couch watching tv eating bon bons!?!? I think that is something working Mom's think we do. But we don't. We work HARD and LONG. No days off. We're always on call.

Good luck with the menu planning, it's all part of being a stay at home Mom!

I have been a stay at home mom for two years and I have yet to eat bon bons on the couch. It's amazing how busy you will be.

Good luck. I set a routine for myself kind of like a 'real' job. I clean this day, I pay bills this day, we have play dates this day, ect. It can always change but I like having my own form of structure.

Yeah, I am still waiting for the sit on the couch with bon bons, too. It's been a year and a half that I've been home and Lainey is a year. How I ever had time for a job is beyond me. ;)

Good luck on the sitting on the sofa. ;)

I'm sure you and Eli will enjoy you being home full time now. I love staying home with my kids, hopefully they feel the same way. Ha

Man those husbands wanting to have cooked meals. JK :)

Haha! I was JUST having this conversation last night with my mom. She stayed home with us and she told me last night not to let ANYONE tell me that staying at home isn't a job! But I still need to order wedding invites, so I'm still a ways off from that stage of life.

haha! love this...I'm at home with Elyse today & while I have this desire to fix a nice dessert for dinner tonight, I'm tempted to simply curl up on the couch & nap while Elyse naps!

Congrats on becoming a stay at home mom! I hope that by some miracle from heaven that I can stay home with {future} children one day! This next part is not directed toward you Megan at all, but toward some of the comments! I want to say that I think a lot of the "divide" between SAHMs and working ones is that working moms still have to do laundry, cook dinner, clean the house, and play with/bathe/see their kids too. AND they have to be out of the house 8-10 hours a day. So, for people that do it all AND work outside the home, it is like a slap in the face for SAHMs to talk about how hard it is. I don't know how working moms do it to be honest. I know it is NOT all soaps and bon bons being at home all day by any means, but I think that the sometimes the "I'm so busy having playdates and lunch dates" sucks to hear when you are the one serving the food at the lunch dates, or teaching someone else's kids while wishing you were financially able to stay at home and be with your own. Please keep that in mind when you complain about how busy you are. You are also very lucky and blessed to have some way to afford that job.
