Goodbye Summer

Tomorrow, Monday morning Luke will go back to school.

While Luke has still been working a lot during the week at church he obviously hasn't been going to school everyday. And now he will be.

It has been a busy summer but it has also been relaxing. Luke is so busy during the school year with balancing everything that he has on his plate, it was nice to have a couple of months to refresh and relax.

During the school year Luke is usually up and out the door before Eli and I even wake up, so it has been nice to have his help in the mornings this summer.

We have been able to travel, sleep in and just spend lots of family time together. But now it is over.

And oddly, I'm sort of ready.

In April I was extremely ready for summer. I was ready to be lazy, for Luke to be home more, to not always feel like we are in the rat race of life.

But now after almost three months of no routine and being always on the go, I am very ready for routine.

I'm ready to meal plan again, I'm ready to have our set schedule that I know every week, I'm ready to start jogging again and get into a workout schedule. I'm ready to plan our weekly outfits (yes sadly that is true) and sit down the sunday before a week and plan out our schedule. Clearly I'ma  person who thrives on plans and schedules.

The summer is a nice break from the day to day routine, but by the end of it I'm longing for that routine. I thrive on it.

This past week after we got home from the beach Eli and I went to Luke's classroom to help him get ready for the school year. Eli was a big help obviously.

And so I say goodbye to our Summer 2012. It was an amazing summer but I'm ready to tell it goodbye. I'm ready for summer's friend Fall to come and bring cooler weather, routine, football games and pumpkin decorations.

It is time. And believe me, by April next year I will be more than ready for Summer. Everything is perfect in it's own time.

  1. I'm a teacher and I so get this. I go back tomorrow, and I'm also ready for the routine. I love the first few weeks of summer, but when everyday is like Saturday, it gets kind of boring. And I just don't seem to get things done. I'm looking forward to fall, and getting back into the swing of things.

  2. I was just reorganizing my closet today when I saw all of my fall clothes and realized that I, too, am done with summer. Bring on the cooler weather!

  3. I feel like summer has gone by way too fast, especially here in New Hampshire but I'm ready for a little more routine.

I'm ready for Football, Sunday crockpot meals, Pumpkin everything and starting out as a Scentsy counsultant. So much to do! :-)

  4. My hubby teaches too so I totally know how you feel. Summers are nice and I'm always ready for it but I'm definitely ready to get back to a routine. Hope things transition smoothly for ya!

  5. I'm not a teacher, but I'm definitely ready for the milder season of fall. If only for the milder weather & less social commitments. :)

  6. I am right there with ya sweetie! I was SO READY for summer to get here and have some down time. But I am ready for routine again too. Addie needs to go back to preschool and have structure. And I need to go back to school so I can have structure. Ha! I miss getting dressed and having an adult conversation once a week. I also need the kick in the pants to be more organized and start meal planning and stuff. I sucked at it so bad this summer. I need to go back over your meal planning posts and get some tips :-) Happy Back to School girlfriend!

  7. It's just started getting warmish the last couple of weeks up here in the northwest and I think we are getting close to 90 this week, but I am ready for fall. The colors, the feel in the air, the smells of woodstoves and fireplaces burning- I love fall and can't wait!!

  8. Does Luke teach 6th grade English? I taught 6th grade English for 9 years and those text books like familiar!

  9. Ha!!! I also plan my outfits for the week! My husband makes fun of me! Glad to know I'm not alone!!
