I looked at my calendar this morning and realized that it had been seven weeks since we have had a weekend at home with no plans.
It was overdue and much needed.
Of course with an eight month old baby in tow, a weekend no longer entails sleeping in. My 6:00am wake up call doesn't seem so wonderful in the wee hours of the morning, but at the end of the day I love that I was able to get up early and get so much done. Plus Eli is so happy in the morning it's hard to not be happy along with him.
Luke and I have been looking forward to this weekend knowing that we had no plans. Our only plan was to stay in and be lazy and just hang out as a family.
We got an extra bonus because we had a thunderstorm almost the entire day. We both love a good thunderstorm.
A cold day, at home, in my pj's, with my two favorite guys while a thunderstorm brews outside? Yes please!
The day started off with an amazing breakfast that Luke made for us. Pancakes, bacon, eggs and juice. Yum yum. He also picked this up for me at the store the other day:Yum, yum, yum. It gave my coffee that perfect Christmas-kick.
We played around in the living room for awhile, eating and watching soccer. Yes we watch soccer every Saturday morning. It has become Luke's new favorite thing for us to do as a family. This little guy could careless about the soccer game but it's still fun to watch it together. After being lazy for awhile I decided to get productive and do things I've been needing to do for awhile. Eli's closet has needed to be updated for a long time. So many clothes were in there that were out of season or no longer fit him. So I cleaned it out, washed the next size of clothes (12 months) and got it all organized.
His closet also serves as my Scentsy inventory closet so I was able to get all of that organized. I LOVE feeling productive. His closet is all put together and is so much better than the chaos it was before.
In the middle of the day all 3 of us managed to squeeze in a nap.
Also, Harry Potter was on ABC Family all day, while it poured rain outside. It was a GREAT day.
We ended the day by going to a friend's house for a birthday party and to watch football. Food, Football and friends = fun fun fun.
It's simple days like these that I sit back and thank God for the little things he has given me. I love the life that Luke and I have built (and are still building) together.
I love being busy and having lots of places to go and people to see, but every so often it is nice to calm down and just spend a day at home. It was much needed!
