Ice Storm Necessities

For over a week now the news has been warning us of an ice/snow storm that is headed our way.

So today, Thursday, right on time the ice started coming down and the University I work at closed down at noon.

I try not to doubt the not-always-correct-weather-men, but I was mildly surprised when the ice actually showed up at the predicted time.

On my way home I decided I would to go to the grocery story. Everybody goes to the store to stock up on food during an ice storm right? It only seemed like the natural thing to do.

It was the moment that I stepped inside the store that I realized I had no idea what I even needed.

I was simply going to the store because everybody else was.

If everybody was jumping off the cliff I was right there with them.

I walked around for about a good 10 minutes before I even remembered to get a basket to put food in.

It was like I had never grocery shopped before. The ice storm was completely throwing off my A-game.

I then called Luke to find out what we needed during the Ice Storm of 2010. I figured if I couldn't think of any food we needed, Luke, the boy who loves to eat could definitely think of something.

So I called and asked if we needed any necessities for the big storm

To which he replied: Yes, please go check the TV's and see how much they are and maybe get one.

Um....excuse me what?

He then proceeded to explain that during ice storms he likes to play video games on the big TV in the living room but I like to watch TV on the very same TV, so getting a new television would solve our dilemma for the ice storm.

Hm....I was thinking something more along the lines of: bread, milk, a heat generator....not A NEW TV.

Silly me.

Between me and you I didn't even go look at the TV's. Seriously, who buys a TV in the middle of an ice storm?

However, I did get the necessary food items:
I mean, it would be horrible if we found ourselves trapped in an ice storm without Sour Patch Kids or Spicy Munchies.

That would almost be wore than being trapped inside with just one TV in the living room.

Oh the horror.

Question and Answer Part Three

The third set of answers. I promise I am announcing the winner of the notecards on Wednesday. For now here are these:

Food, Food Food.

What is your favorite recipe to make?
Hm.. I have lots of favorites, but right now it would have to be this amazing Chicken Enchilada Recipe that my friend Stephanie shared with me. SO YUMMY.

How many days a week do you cook dinner?
I cook dinner almost every week night and at least one weekend night, so usually around 6 a week. Sometimes less, never more :-)

Valentines Day Plans?
Still not sure, we are not big on Valentine's dates. I LOVE the day, but we usually just go out somewhere kind of like usual. Nothing big.

What is the best thing you have eaten? What is the worst?
Best thing would be queso. There is nothing better than God's Pure Queso.
Worst, hm.. I'm not really a picky eater, so this is tough but I have to say peas. Peas are SICK.

So now that you are a coffee drinker what is your favorite way to drink it?
Well before Christmas I would either drink it black, or with a big of Coffee Mate in it. Now that we have a Keurig coffee maker I love to drink a breakfast blend every morning.

If you could eat something everyday and not gain any weight what would it be?
Pizza and brownies. No ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Did you ever try all the Starbuck's drinks from your post?
I still have not yet tried them all, but I do plan to do a follow up post after I have tried a majority of them. I need to wait until after it gets warm and I have tried Iced Coffee drinks. I have to say anything Skinny, is just gross.

Travel

Where is your dream vacation spot?
Hm.. So many places, but I would have to say Hawaii

Where did you stay for your honeymoon and would you stay there again?
We stayed at El Dorado in Playa Del Carmen and we loved it. It was an all inclusive resort and was the perfect getaway for our honeymoon. I would recommend it to anyone planning a trip to a resort.

Some random questions:

What was your favorite book growing up?
When I was young my parents got me this book "My Sister Katie the Pest" and because my sister's name is Kati I absolutely loved it. I read it several times. I don't even remember what it was about though!

What is your favorite book?
Redeeming Love

What piece of jewelry are you lusting over on the Stella & Dot site?
I recently went to a Stella & Dot jewelry party and fell in love with their jewelry. Seriously adorable stuff. I had a party tonight and I am excited to order my stuff. This is currently the piece I am lusting over. Adorable.
Who would be your Grey's BFF? Meredith or Christina?
Definitely Christina. I couldn't handle Meredith during the whole with Derek, not with Derek, hate Derek, love Derek, weird post it wedding. Too. Much.

What make you laugh really hard?
My husband. He makes me laugh all. the time. He is seriously funny, even when he doesn't try. Is that called laughing at him or with him?? Either way he is hilarious!

What is your favorite movie of all time?
Titanic of course.

Did you get the shelf in your closet fixed yet?
Haha, yes we did, and hopefully it stays up this time. At least until we move, then I don't care if it falls.

If you tried out for American Idol what would you sing?
Before he Cheats by Carrie Underwood. And I would request that I be able to audition from my car because I sound really good when I'm in there.

Project 365 - Week Three

Project 365 - Week Three Check out Jessica's blog to see so many other's! I am having so much fun doing this.

Also, if you haven't read my second set of Q&A answers you can find them here.

Sunday January 17th:

Spent a day relaxing and then went grocery shopping. Putting food away is my favorite part (I'm completely serious)
Monday January 18th:
Our small group came over. Luke and I gave away a TV. We have a two bedroom apartment and three TV's. That is one too many. A person needed one so we gave ours. It was given to us so we feel like we Payed-It-Forward:

Tuesday January 19th:

Quiet night at home, I used the time to fill in dates in my new myAgenda, which I absolutely LOVE:

Wednesday January 20th:

This is what I do every morning. Use our new Keurig coffee maker. LOVE IT. (this particular morning I drank a Breakfast Blend)

Thursday January 21st:

I got my event binders all nice and pretty. It makes the work day so much better if I have pretty binders!

Friday January 22nd:

Went to dinner with some friends and then watched the last NBC episode of Conan. Good times.

Saturday January 23rd:

Luke practiced most of the day with his band so I stayed home and watched TV and did laundry. One of my favorite parts of laundry duty, matching up the socks. It's like a game of Match.

Question and Answer Part Two

So I lied. I'm not announcing the winner today. I am saving that for Wednesday.

Truth be told I just haven't done it yet. So I decided that Wednesday will be the day.

Until then are the answers to some more questions.

Here we go round two!

College

What was your major in college?
Well I changed majors seven times in college. What can I say? I like to keep things interesting. I eventually landed on a major in Mass Communication.

Why did you choose that major?
Well one reason I choose my major is because I was running out of time. If I wanted to graduate I needed to choose something quick. I also enjoyed public speaking at that time and I did alot of that in my major. However I haven't spoke in front of a crowd in several years and I seem to have grown more shy through the years. If that is at all possible. So I don't think I am much of a public speaker anymore It was a great decision and I am pleased with my major. No regrets (well I did last year for about 6 months but I'm good with it again).

What college did you go to?
I went to a small college in Oklahoma. Not OU. Not OSU. Something right in the middle.

Blogging

Why did you start blogging?
I first started reading blogs in 2007. My friend Faith was pregnant and created a blog for friends and family to keep up with her pregnancy. Through her blog I was introduced to the Steece Quads blog and I was hooked. I then found Kelly's Korner and through that found several others. I decided to go ahead and make my own, but didn't really get into blogging until after we got married in 2008.

Did you have a hard time thinking of what to write when you first started blogging?
Well if you look through my archives when I first started writing I didn't blog consistently, it would just be here and there, so no I didn't have a hard time coming up with something I just did it when I felt like it. I have always been a writer. I'm not claiming I'm a good writer because I know I'm not when it comes to technicalities, but I do enjoy writing and even before I had a blog I was always formulating stories in my head. If something funny happened, I would "write about it" in my head. Blogging just gave me an outlet to write those stories. Other people reading them is just a perk, however I'm fairly certain I would still write them out if nobody else read.

What do you like most about blogging? What do you dislike most?
The thing I like most is the relationships I have made. To people outside of this "world" it sounds crazy, but to all of us we understand. I love that I literally have friends all across this country. I love that I can write something that is bothering me and several people will let me know that they completely relate to me. I love that I have an outlet to share my faith, tell silly stories, and keep a journal of the going on's in my life.

Dislike:
I dislike the fact that I told so many people in my real life about my blog at first. I love my family reading it, but when I first started I had a link on my facebook and told many people. So I'm not sure how many people in my "real life" read the blog but just don't tell me. Kinda weird.

How do you have so many blog friends?
Well I have been blogging for awhile, so through that time I have come to know a lot of people through the blog world. I try to respond back to comments either through email or commenting on their blog. If you have left me a comment and I have not yet done that (besides the question post) I apologize. I appreciate every person who comments and takes the time to give me their "insight" of what I am blogging about. It's how conversations begin, thus it is how friendships are born :-) I have been able to meet several of my blog friends and hope to meet up with several others this year (TwilightPosse anyone?!?!)

Who are your favorite bloggers and why?
I have SO many favorite blogs out there. I am currently working on my list of links to go on right sidebar of my blog. I love all the blogs I read for many different reasons. Many of them have become good friends that I want to check in with everyday. Some of them are blogs that I enjoy reading for fashion or decorating purposes, and some of them are blogs that just bring me a good laugh. As soon as I get my link list up I will let you all know so you can read all of my favorite blogs.

Where did you come up with the name Tale's of the Tree's?
When I first started blogging I was just a single girl with a boring last name. My blog name was : The Life and Times of Megan. Then I got engaged to a really cute boy whose last name had the word Tree in it. I was SO excited to be getting a new last name that had much more potential to make something fun of than my maiden name. Then my blog name was "Soon to be a Tree". Then after we got married I played around with a couple of blog names (just in my head nothing official) and eventually decided on Tales of the Tree's and it stuck. I briefly considered changing my blog name a couple of months ago but decided to keep it.
It's funny because now even in real life I refer to us simply as The Tree's (as opposed to our full last name) I had a real life friend tell me the other day that she sometimes forgets that my last name isn't just Tree. It made me laugh. I'm sure when we get preggo (not preggo right now) that the baby will have to be Baby Tree. It's only appropriate.

Couch to 5K

What are you're running goals after completing the Couch to 5K
Confession time: During Christmas I "accidentally" took a week and half break from jogging. Who in their right mind would have known that a week and a half would have set me back so much?? I have still been doing the Couch to 5K every other day but I am not as far along as I should be. So right now my goal is to just get through it and then we will see. I have big ideas in my head of doing a half marathon, but only time will tell.

Which Couch to 5K Program are you using?
I am using a Couch to 5K application on my iPhone which I HIGHLY suggest to anyone who has a phone capable of getting this app. It is a brown app and says 5K on it.

What is the song you are most excited to have come on when you are running?
I have three:
Mr. Brightside by The Killers
If You Seek Amy by Britney Spears (yes I know what it means)
Billy Jean by Michael Jackson

God, Ministry, Spiritual Life

Have you ever been on a mission trip? If not is there somewhere you would love to go one day.
I went on a mission trip the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college with my high school youth group.
It was a very rewarding time and I learned a lot during that trip. I have grown a lot since that time and my heart has grown even more broken for the lost and hurting. I would love to go on another trip soon with Luke. It is something we would like to do together before we have a baby.

What is your favorite bible verse?
My favorite bible verse changes with various seasons of my life, but for right now I have to say it is the message version of Philippians 4:6-7
Don't fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

You mentioned Luke leads worship at your church, is there a particular ministry you are involved in at church as well?
Luke works at our church as the worship pastor. I would love nothing more than to be able to stand on stage and sing with Luke. When I was younger I had visions of being involved in a worship band and traveling around leading worship.
One problem. I can't hold a note to save my life. It's bad. Real bad. And it's not a secret, everybody around me knows that I do not have a good voice.
So all of that to say, there is not one particular area of ministry that I am involved in For four years I led a bible study for girls and now Luke and I lead a study together for couples.
I am also involved in the kid's ministry.
I really have a heart for young women and hope to use that fully one day in whatever way that means.

Question and Answer Part One

So here we go with the first set of answers!

There were some great questions and I am excited to answer them. I have broken them up into categories, so that should help when reading them. And also hopefully help to not get too boring.

But I never get tired of reading these, so hopefully I can keep things interesting.

Here we go:

All About Marriage

How did you meet Luke? How long have you been married?
Luke and I met in college my Sophomore year, his freshman (however he is older than me) we dated for 5 1/2 years.

What do you and Luke like to do for fun?
We are actually pretty boring people. Lately for fun we have looked at houses, but recently that only causes us to argue (sometimes it is kind of comical). We like to go to sporting events and movies together. We like to play old school nintendo. I'm telling ya we are boring.

What is your favorite thing about being married?
Being with my best friend all the time (cue: Awwww)

What is the sweetest thing your husband has ever done for you?
For me this is a broad thing. There isn't one specific sweet thing that Luke has done for me, yes he is sweet all the time (well, most of the time) but I would have to say the sweetest thing he has done for me (besides asking me to marry him) was the way he treated our dating relationship. Luke is very strict about boundaries and made sure that we never crossed any sort of boundaries in our relationship. He made sure to never treat me as his wife, because as a young dating couple we were not yet man and wife. I won't get into specifics but there were many areas where he made sure we never crossed any boundaries. It sounds like such a weird thing but to me it shows how important and sacred marriage is to him. I love that our dating time was truly "dating" and it helped us easily transition into marriage and allowed him to become the spiritual leader of our marriage.

How do you deal with people asking you when you will have children now that you are married?
To be honest it doesn't really bother me when people ask me this question. I just tell them that we will have a baby when the time is right for us, and even we don't know when that will be (although we have our assumptions).

Is marriage what you expected?
For me, marriage is almost exactly what I expected. In fact it may be a little better than what I expected. SO many people warned me about how the first year is so hard and it will be such a tough adjustment and yadda, yadda, blah, blah. Our first year was amazing and we fought much less than we did when we dated (isn't that horrible?) I am a firm believer on not judging your own life on other's experiences. This includes, marriage, children, house hunting etc. So many people are quick to share their two cents and nine times out of ten it won't apply to your situation at all (stepping off my soap box now).

Fashion/Clothing/Hair:

Where is your favorite place to shop?
I pretty much buy clothes anywhere I can find them. Forever 21, TJ Maxx, Francesca's, and Express seem to make up a large majority of my closet, but I will shop anywhere. Also, I try not to buy anything full price. No point, it all goes on sale. Sometimes this isn't possible, but I try to make it happen most of the time.

What is your favorite go to dress?
Right now it would be this very simple dress. I can dress it up or down and it is so airy and comfy. I know it's simple, but it's me!

Where do you buy the majority of your shoes?
DSW. LOVE that place. When looking for a certain pair of shoes DSW is my first stop, and usually my only.

What curl product do you use?
I use Garnier Curl Sculpting Cream and Garnier Curl Shaping gel. They both work well but I'm still mourning the loss of my SOFT CURL cream that they quit making. Sad day.

What perfume do you use?
Perfume makes me sneeze. A lot. However if I wear it I use Chanel Chance

If you could only wear one pair of shoes for the rest of your life what would it be?
Hm.. This is a toss up between a good pair of flip flops or my favorite Uggs. I know I'm such a girly girl.

What are 5 staples of your wardrobe that you could never do without?
This is a hard question for me, because I don't have a lot of "timeless" clothing items. This is something I hope to work on in the future.
So for me its very basic:

1. Good pair of jeans that I feel fantastic in
2. Layering tanks in every color
3. A pair of lounge pants that feel comfy but look decent to go out in public
4. A black cardigan
5. Black leggings

What one item is your must have?
Boots. I heart boots. I love boots that you wear over jeans and leggings, I love boots that you wear with a great pair of bootcut jeans, I love casual boots. I love dressy boots. I LOVE BOOTS.

Tomorrow I will answer more questions and announce the winner of the super cute notecards!

Second Most Wonderful Time

I am so glad you all loved the notecards. I fell in love with them and figured that all of my lovely blogger friends would love them also!

I will be drawing the winner on Sunday, so if you haven't entered the giveaway you can do it here.

In other news it is the 2nd most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas is the 1st

Girl Scout Cookie time is the 2nd.

I was a Girl Scout once but I dropped out because I heard a rumor that the older kids were beating up the younger girl scouts.

It was a dirty rumor and not true.

But I was never really good at that whole "doing good deeds to earn a patch" thing so I wouldn't have lasted much longer anyways.

BUT my un-committed ways to Girl Scouts have nothing to do with my love for their cookies.

I probably love them a little too much.

Last night my sweet little cousin called and asked if I would like to buy some cookies.

I put her on hold and asked Luke, how many boxes of Samoas should I get, 6 or 7?

Apparently the fact that I said 6 or 7 was the funniest thing he had heard all day long.

All I know is that we only order about 3 boxes every year and then make mad dashes around town looking for girls selling cookies.

In fact last year in a fit of fury looking for cookies, Luke called me and said "well I've just walked around all of Wal-Mart looking for those little girls but I couldn't find any, I will have to try again tomorrow".

Those cookies make us go crazy.

I'm not even going to tell you how many cookies I ordered, but last night while laying in bed I told Luke that I felt like we made a mistake and needed to order more.

I worry about the important things in life.

Like older kids beating me up and cookies.

Well I need to go now, I have some questions to answer. And I told Luke that he has to answer all the questions about why we can't find a house because I can sum it up in three words. It's his fault. Love him.

Oh and I need to make a call to order some more cookies.

Have a good weekend!!!

Giveaway Time!

This blog post is two-fold.

Lately I have been tossing around the idea of doing a Question and Answer post.

A Q&A if you will.

Also, last week I mentioned that I was going to host a giveaway this week.

So I decided to combine the two posts.

I like to live on the wild side.

First lets talk about the giveaway....

In December I mentioned that I ordered my Christmas cards through Notably Noted.

I absolutely loved our cards and loved working with Notably Noted. Not only did they have super cute Christmas cards but they have TONS of cute stationary items.

So now I am giving away a set of super cute notecards:

The winner will get to choose the color of name box that they would like (pictured blue above) and of course what name they would like on the cards.

Don't worry you don't have to be named Jenny to win.

Be sure to go by the site and check out the super cute stuff!

Here comes the second part of the post:

Leave a comment asking me a question and you will be entered into the drawing for the notecards.

So this is officially my Q&A/Giveaway post.

I am all about multi-tasking.

Ask away, ask me anything and Good luck!

My Greatest Fear

For as long as I can remember fear has been apart of my life.

Now I understand that most people deal with fear, and live with it to an extent. But for me fear at times becomes a an obsession, and has controlled my life.

I can remember being very young and being afraid that I would be abducted. I watched a Lifetime movie (what can I say I have always been a sucker for those movies) about a young girl who was abducted from her driveway getting the mail.

Fear controlled me.

Years later I can remember being afraid of germs and being afraid to touch anything and everything for the fear of what was on that "thing". The escalator at the mall? Heck no I wasn't touching that thing. A dollar bill that came from a store I deemed gross? I would scrub my hands for much too long after touching it.

Fear controlled me.

Several years later, when I was an age that I will not admit I watched a movie that is pretty much on the top of the list of the creepiest/scariest/corniest movies ever. I slept with my lights on for years (basically till I got married) and still to this day cannot watch even a commercial for a scary movie.

Fear controlled me.

Of course the list could go on and on and I could talk about my many fears, but that would require another couple of hours, and thats just a bit ridiculous. Plus, I know, it is through the freedom of Christ that I can overcome these fears. Do I still struggle with some of them from time to time? Yes. But I know where I can find rest and peace.

However there is one fear that has been plaguing me lately.

The fear of desiring the things of this world and always wanting more.

As I get older this fear becomes more of a reality and it scares me to no end.

Occasionally I will find myself yearning for a brand new big home with all the upgrades.

I will find myself counting my pennies to see how much money I have to spend on clothes this month. And then spending every last penny on a shirt that I will wear for a couple of months and then forget about.

I catch myself becoming jealous of others belongings, wondering if I will ever have what "they" have.

And that scares me.

Is it bad that I want a nice house, and nice clothes? No.

Is it bad that sometimes I desire a life of comfort not wanting to look outside of my box to what the outside world holds? Yes.

I was created for more than comparing myself to others.

I was created for more than having the newest and the greatest and the biggest and the prettiest.

It's not easy to break out of the life of comfort. But I want more than that.

I want a heart that breaks for what breaks His heart.

I want a mind that puts others needs before mine.

So I'm learning and God is teaching me.

I'm not saying that tomorrow when I wake up I will be rid of desire and I will no longer want a new house with granite countertops.

Let's face it granite countertops make me swoon.

But I will wake up and say I was created for more, and I will ask God to use me.

Even if that means selling everything I have.

Because my biggest fear is not losing everything I own.

My biggest fear is missing out on what I could do for others, because I was always concerned about what I did not have.

Weekly Weekend Update

Friday morning we woke up bright and early to go look at houses. I took the day off from work so that we could spend all day looking. When we woke up it looked like this outside:
It was so foggy, it was like a scene straight out of Twilight. I looked everywhere for one of those Indian werewolves but never saw one. Well except for the usual:
And he's the cutest Indian I know.

House hunting was a bust. Story of my life.

That night we went to dinner with some friends from church. My friend Meredith has this really cool app on her phone called QuadCamera which takes four pictures at once like so:
I thought it was really cool and will be getting it soon!

Saturday My mom, sister (Kati) and nephew came down to see spend the day us.

Maxton immediately wanted to play with the guitar:
Then we got him a guitar of his own size and he was very happy:
Later in the day we went and got pizza and everybody was happy:
Me with my sweet boy. I hate that I don't get to see him everyday! He is getting so big SO fast!
It was around this time that we figured it was time for them to head home:Luke and I spent the rest of our Saturday doing nothing and now we are now spending a Sunday afternoon relaxing.

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Thursday Thoughts

1. Do you ever get in a rut with cooking? I feel like I have been doing the same recipes over and over and haven't branched out in awhile. I need to try some new recipes but I get so intimidated by them.

2. I am going to have a giveaway next week. Stay tuned!

3. I still haven't told the apartment 'fix-it' people that they need to fix my closet. I'm afraid that they are going to yell at me and tell me we had too many clothes hanging on the rod. I am trying to find a place to hide all of our clothes before they come. Seriously.

4. I am craving cheesecake like nobody's business.

5. I have seen this "Real Me" thing floating around the blog world. You are supposed to show a picture of the real you. Here is the real me. Right after jogging, all sweaty, no makeup. Elf ears. Me.

6. I need to get a bathing suit for our upcoming cruise. Bathing suits scare me.

7. I have been drinking more water everyday. The only change I have noticed is my amount of trips to the restroom.

8. The other day I looked under my bed and saw this:
Anybody need a hair tie?? Anybody need some dust? That is the real me.

9. There are lots of good shows on TV right now. But you ALL need to be watching Community. It is hilarious and I'm afraid there aren't enough people watching it. If it gets canceled I am going to cry and blame all of you.

10. I'm not sure what kind of socks my last post was about. I will ask and get back to you. But they are amazing.

1/13/10

Thief on Accident

Have you ever become a thief on accident?

You took something that wasn't yours, but you totally didn't mean to?

Well this happened to me recently.

You see, while we were at Luke's parents house over Christmas we went on a little four wheeling excursion.

Being the 'non-outdooresy-girl' that I am I did not bring the appropriate going-out-in-2-degree-weather-to-ride-on-a-mini-motorcycle just.for.the.fun.of.it. clothing.

Silly me. Next time I'll bring my spare cover-alls.

Luke really wanted me to ride this four wheeler with him and had been asking me all day to please ride it (if we had been dating I would have thought he was going to propose to me, but since we were married I knew he really just wanted me to ride with him, no special prize at the end). So being the amazing wife that I am I kindly obliged.

After whining about it for several hours.

As I was putting on my appropriate four wheeling gear (oh wow) I realized that I had not brought socks with me on our trip.

Uggs do not require socks, I only wear Uggs when it is below 30 degrees, therefore I had no socks.

So Luke's dad gave me some of his socks to wear while we were four wheeling.

From the moment I put my feet into these socks I knew there was something different about them.

People, these were the best socks my feet had ever been in.

It was like God's manna in pure sock form.

Seriously, like walking around with mini space heaters in the form of socks on my feet.

After our four-wheeling adventure (it was thrilling let me tell you) I continued to wear the socks throughout the week, with the full intention of returning them before we left.

Several days later we arrived back at home in our good ole apt and I realized I was still wearing the treasured socks.

I figured Luke's parents probably realized I took the socks and I would just return them next time we saw them. And maybe mourn the loss of the best socks ever.

I asked Luke if it was weird that I was wearing his dad's socks but he said it wasn't. So I continued to wear them.

Every. Single. Day.

A couple of days later Luke was on the phone with his mom asking her what we should get his dad for his birthday.

She then told him that we should get him some new socks because he lost his favorite pair.

Luke immediately started laughing hysterically when he realized I had stolen his dad's favorite socks.

I had THEIF written across my forehead.

But I really didn't care because I had the warmest, most comfortable socks on, and my toes were as snug as a bug in a rug.

My view from the back of the four wheeler: I've never been more attracted to him!

Project 365 - Week One

Last year I saw something in the bloggy world about "Project 365" but I never really gave much attention to it.

It seemed like a mom thing, and well at that time I was all about avoiding "mom things".

Hey give me a break I was a newlywed.

Am I still a newlywed? When does the newlywed status end?

Some people say it ends when you've had your first big fight.

That would mean our newlywed status ended on our honeymoon. We are good at fighting. It's my spiritual gift.

Just kidding.

Anyways. This was the first year that I really looked into Project 365 and decided to go ahead and give it a whirl.

Everyday I will take a snapshot that represents the day and then I will write down about 2-3 sentences that describe that day (or the picture if it fits).

I am excited to do this and hope that I will stick with it for the full year.

I think it will be fun to look back and see what the heck we did when we didn't have kiddos.

Jessica's blog is what really got me turned on to doing Project 365 this year and each Tuesday she will host Project Life where everybody can share their pictures. I am excited to participate.

So here is our Project 365 Week One:

January 3rd: Church and then an afternoon of video games (for Luke) and working on theChristmas Card Book (for me)
Monday January 4th: A thrilling night of jogging, dinner and The Bachelor. Luke watched it for the first time EVER with me and had some funny comments.
Tuesday January 5th: Will came over to eat dinner with us and then the boys practiced their tunes for next week's show.
Wednesday January 6th: After work we went jogging in our apartment gym. I snapped this picture of us leaving, but as I snapped it I saw the guy behind us (in black) watching and I got nervous cause it was awkward that I was taking a picture in the gym and I pulled away, hence the reason it is blurry. But its my only picture from the day.Thursday January 7th: Mexican food night!! I made tacos and queso and we watch the BCS Bowl GameFriday January 8th: Dinner with friends!Saturday January 9th: Looked at houses all morning then a surprise party with friends from church that evening! So that was our first week. Clearly we live thrilling lives of lots of TV watching.

It's not too late to start your own Project 365!

The Night My Closet FELL.

Today after work I went and did my jogging and then came home to a yummy roast, potatoes and carrots.

The cute hubs had put the food in the crock pot before work and then had it all ready when I got home. He's a pretty good guy.

He was practically BEGGING me to take his picture so I kindly obliged. (can you sense my sarcasm??) His hair looks really crazy in this picture, I think its the shadow. While his hair does get many stares, its usually not that crazy.
Luke had a show tonight and I was going to go, but he told me I didn't need to. He has another one at the same place next month, and he understands how hard it is for me to go out in the cold. I took a picture of Luke and some of his band mate leaving for the show. Pretty sure I heard "bye mom" as they left.
So about 10 minutes after the boys left I heard the loudest/scariest/creepiest noise ever.

I had no idea what it was, but it came from the bedroom. I knew that much

It was the kind of noise that causes every hair on your body to stand.

So I grabbed my phone, grabbed a pen (the only weapon I had close by) and opened the front door.

My theory on that was if somebody was in the apartment I had an easy exit.

I'm always thinking people.

So before I went to investigate the noise I called Luke. Keep in mind I am still shaking at this point.

I explained to Luke what happened and HE SAID: "Babe, you probably just heard something from the apartment downstairs".

Um. excuse me? I almost lost my life and he thinks it was a FIGMENT OF MY IMAGINATION?!?!

So I made him stay on the phone with me while I went around the apartment to see what the invisible noise was.

I made my way to the closet and found this. The ENTIRE left side of my closed just FELL. I didn't even know that could happen.
I started screaming.

You should note, if you call your husband and say you heard a scary noise and then start screaming, he might panic and think something is wrong.

Just saying.

I think he had to say my name several times before I could even speak, I was just speechless. Let's look again:
Yup, those are all of our clothes. Just chilling on the floor.

LOVE this apartment.

Here is the shelf that held the rod of clothes, pretty sure it's not supposed to look like this:
Those are the nails that are supposed to be in the wall. I should say that I spent the rest of my night picking up the clothes but that would be a lie.

They are still on the floor.

I just completely cleaned and reorganized my closet last month. I do not have it in me to do it all again.

I wonder how we will possibly find something to wear tomorrow? I might be wearing my PJ's to work tomorrow.

Weekly Weekend Update

Weekend time!! It's my favorite!

Friday afternoon I was really exhausted I thought I just wanted to stay at home and do absolutely nothing for the evening, but when my friend Kelsey asked if we wanted to go to dinner I knew it would be a good time and I shouldn't pass it up. So friday we went to P.F. Chang's with our friends Kelsey and Chris:
Me and the cute hubs: I might add it's tough being married to an Indian, I always look crazy pale next to him.
And me and Kelsey:
Saturday we looked for houses - no luck.

Then I came home and cried. Then that night we went to a surprise birthday dinner for our friend Carrie. I love when people are truly surprised, It is so fun! She was REALLY surprised!

Me and the birthday girl:

This afternoon we have been doing a whole bunch of nothing, I should be cleaning, but doing nothing sounded much more appealing.

Tonight we will meet our small group for dinner and I am excited about that!!

Hope you had a great weekend!
