House Project #1

I am so sorry that I have been a blog slacker lately. We went from the cruise, to packing, to moving, to unpacking. to house project, house projects house project and somehow blogging got pushed to the way-side. Boo.

Plus life in general seems to be really busy lately with lots of exciting things going on.

Sooo I know I said it in my last post but I really hope to be back to my normal blogging self soon.

Anyways, this weekend was Easter weekend. Usually I am running around trying to find something for me and Luke to wear, this year I didn't even think about an outfit. This house has totally and completely consumed us. Which I am loving.

This weekend was Operation House Project Number One. Get rid of the green carpet.

For whatever reason our house had green carpet in the dining room (which we will turn into a study). I'm not a fan of green carpet, so we made plans to get rid of the carpet immediately.

Somehow Luke convinced his dad to help him put down some wood floor and Friday afternoon the adventure began.

Before: Hello green carpet

We also decided to do the entry way, here it is before:

Goodbye putting green. I do not need a miniature golf course in my house. Thank you.

In the middle process. Chipping up the tile. This was a mess. Luke and his dad worked hard to get this all up:

Luke laying some of the wood floor:
And after! Goodbye green carpet Hellooooo beautiful floors!
Entryway:

The floor looks SO good. Luke and I are so grateful that his dad could come help (do pretty much the whole thing). I can't quit looking at it. Wood floors are just so beautiful to me!

I hope everybody had a great Easter weekend. My family and Luke's family spent the day with us. It was a wonderful first Easter in our new home!

  1. I've just found your blog and love it! My Husband and I did the same thing to our house when we first got it :) They had never replaced the 20 year old icky carpet!

Isn't it a refreshing feeling to have that icky stuff out of the house and have something beautiful replace it? :) Your home looks stunning now!

  20. I love it! The green carpet did look pretty bad! My parents house had what looked like that green indoor/outdoor carpeting stuff when we moved in years ago. It was nasty and not pretty with the pink walls:)
