Weekly Weekend Update

This weekend held a Surprise and a Celebration.

First the surprise, As I have mentioned before my family lives an hour and a half away and I do not get to see them as much as I would like too.
Well Saturday while Luke and I were grocery shopping my parents snuck up on us and surprised us! They didn't have anything to do for the day so they thought they would come to the city to just hang out. We didn't have any plans for the day so we gladly welcomed the company! We had a great time eating out and then Christmas Shopping the rest of the day (even though I didn't buy one christmas present, this is the second time that has happened).

Me with the Parental Units:

The Celebration:
On Sunday our church celebrated its 5 year anniversary. Luke and I have been apart of this church for 4 of the 5 years, and Luke has been employed there for all 4 of those years. The years have flown by, but looking back a lot has happened during that time. The church has grown in so many ways and has come so far. We are so thankful to have a body of believers around us that we can share our life with.

Our church was started 5 years ago by our pastor Tommy and his wife Julie. Throughout this time they have become good friends of ours and we are thankful for their friendship. Working in a church plant is not always easy, but Tommy has always worked hard to take care of Luke and we are so thankful for that. In fact Tommy got Luke an AMAZING present to celebrate his 4 years at the church. Stay tuned to find out what it is....

A Sunday worship service:

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

what a cute blog! That is so sweet of your parents to surprise you! I miss my Mommy and Daddy so much sometimes since moving here, unfortunately they are 7 hours away and that's just too far for a weekend drive! Hope you are enjoying your weekend! Becky

That cake looks yummy! How sweet of your parents to make the drive to see you! (I think that is the worst drive ever. It seems so much longer than 1.5 hours. I think it is all the semis that drive me crazy!)

Awww...what a great surprise!!! I also love our church, we're members of a church plant as well and we got plugged in after they had been meeting for about a year and a half...I love being a part of firsts with them and going on the journey of a new church!

Sounds like a fun weekend! My parents live 14 hours away...so I wish they were close enough to pop in! I'm trying to convince them to move...

Ok, and I mean this in a happily married, totally platonic way...but having such a hot worship pastor might be really distracting!!! :-)

I'm glad you had a fun time with your parents! What a fun surprise!

Pete wants to be a church planter, so it's great to hear success stories! It's really scary for me. My Dad is a pastor, but never planted a church of his own, so it's all new to me. I know the Lord will/is preparing both of us for His perfect timing though!

What a nice surprise that your parents came to visit...and shopping is always good!

It's nice to see that your church had a five year celebration. That's very special that y'all have been there four of those five years. May God continue to grow your church and bless it and all who serve.

Oh what sweet parents to surprise you like that! Girl, I feel for you because after getting married, I moved 1.5 hours away from my parents. It's a day's drive, but still nothing like living in the same city as your mom and dad!
